Since 2013, Riso (formerly Risonam) has sustained a modest electronic music following from Vancouver Canada, spending those years recording nostalgic and retrofuturistic sounds of synthwave, electronica, nu-disco, & alternative new age music.

Having been featured on several indie label outfits such as KEATS//COLLECTIVE, Stratford Ct, Midwest Collective, and winding up on a collection of curated mixes via Artzie Music, Dream Chimney, & Drugs and Mirrors, Riso is no stranger to the internet and it’s many niche corners of culture, art & sound.

With a distinct love for the rhythms and vibrancy of disco and house music of the 1980’s and 1990’s, Riso draws from a diverse breadth of inspiration. Tapping into sonic sources like Steve Reich, Patrick Cowley, Bon Iver, Chaz Jankel, Breakbot, Steely Dan, Zapp & Roger, and Toro Y Moi, Riso creates original tracks that merge deep-pocketed drum rhythms with a healthy dose of bouncing bass riffs, playfully ricocheting off of classic vintage synth textures, sampled instruments and muted guitar plucks.

Riso always draws from past melancholic experiences, creating a emotionally resonant, yet dance-forward immersive journey.
